What Happens at a Bridal Trial (And How to Get the Most Out of It)

We’re stepping into the height of the bridal season and all our brides are asking the same question: what actually happens at a bridal trial?

Is it just a preview of your wedding look? A test run? A checklist item? Not quite.

A bridal trial is where everything starts to come together, but more importantly, it’s where we begin to understand you. Not just how you want to look, but how you want to feel. It’s our opportunity to learn your skin, your hair, your preferences, and refine a look that feels like an elevated version of you.

A few extra details that make a big impact:

If you’re planning on getting a spray tan for your wedding, we highly recommend doing a trial run beforehand. Your tan will influence the tones we use and how your overall look comes together. Luckily, our team specializes in soft, natural bridal spray tans, so you’ll never have to worry about anything looking too dark or overly warm.

For brows, come with them groomed the way you typically like them. It helps us frame your face beautifully and ensures your final look feels polished and intentional.

And if you’re considering hair extensions, bring them along. While we don’t provide extensions in-studio, we’re always happy to guide you on where to purchase them, whether locally or online, and most extension specialists can color match you perfectly, making the process seamless.

What To Bring To Your Bridal Trial

This is the moment your vision starts to take shape, so coming prepared makes all the difference.

Bring anything that helps us understand your vision:

  • Photo inspiration (Pinterest boards, saved images, screenshots)

    • But we have a few comments on this.. (keep reading)

  • Your veil or hair accessories

  • Lipsticks or products you already love

  • Any details about your dress, neckline, or overall wedding aesthetic

Remember, Pinterest Isn’t the End Result

Our brides often arrive with beautifully curated Pinterest boards, and we love that! It’s such a helpful starting point for defining your style and overall vision. But it’s important to remember these images are references, not templates, and every look is ultimately refined and tailored to suit your best features.

In a world of AI-generated and heavily edited inspiration, many saved images aren’t entirely realistic, and we often see brides drawn to looks that don’t quite align with their natural hair colour or features, something that can completely change the final effect.

Rather than replicating images, our focus is always on capturing the feeling behind them and translating that into something that truly works for you. Our role is to take that inspiration and tailor it to your features, complexion, and vision.

Honest Feedback Is Everything

This is the part where you may hesitate, but it matters the most. We promise!

If something doesn’t feel like you, say it!

You don’t need to worry about being too particular or “difficult.” The trial is exactly where those conversations should happen. Whether it’s the lip shade, the amount of glow, or how the hair is sitting, we want to know.

Because the goal isn’t just a beautiful look. It’s a look you feel completely confident in! The more open you are, the more in love with the final result you will be on your wedding day, and that’s all we could ask for!

It’s a Collaboration, Not a Test Run

The most important thing to remember? Your bridal trial isn’t about getting it “perfect” on the first try. It’s about working together to create something that feels right.

From skin prep to the final touch of placing your veil, every step is intentional. We refine, adjust, and build a look that reflects you at your most confident.

If you’re ready to work with us on your bridal beauty journey, we’d love to be part of it!
